Aging Gracefully

Grow old along with me!
The best is yet to be...
~ Robert Browning

My thoughts on turning 38 are decidedly optimistic.

Why, you ask?

Because if you dwell on the downsides of aging you drive yourself crazy. You end up in the fetal position obsessing about what you've done with your life. I am choosing to look at the positive things about being a mere 730 days away from 40, and they are many. My dad always said that every day above ground is a good day. I think I'll go with that.

My birthday celebrations were fabulous. Steve and I went out, just the two of us, and we also had a little party with the kids. (I did something I've never done before, I made my own birthday cake. Pineapple UpsideDown to be exact, it was delicious) My birthday was filled with lots of love from family and friends, I am a lucky girl.

You can't have a birthday without presents,(you could but it would just be sad) and my birthday was all about shiny, silver baubles. I told you I was lucky.

  1. Happy Birthday! I would have enjoyed seeing pictures of your cake, especially since you baked it yourself. Your age really doesn't matter as much as whether or not you feel it. I may be getting older, but I still feel young at heart. The necklace is beautiful.

  2. I love the necklace!!! I'm so glad you had a wonderful birthday, you deserved it! I felt the same way about turning 29 this year. While many my age are freaking out and stressing over being almost 30, I could not help but feel like I had accomplished a great number of things for my age, and I felt good! Keep enjoying!

  3. I love birthday's especially my own and I love that you love yours also. It helps that you don't look anywhere close to your age. I have never had a pineapple upside down cake. I bet it was good.
