The Taming of Elizabeth Taylor

Back in the long, long, ago time of the 1970's my Dad brought home a magical machine that played movies.  It was called a Betamax, and we were the first people in town to have this wondrous new technology.  Yeah, we were cool.  My Dad is a lover of gadgetry and old movies, it was a dream come true for him.  Since it was his toy, Dad picked out all the movies, so all we kids had access to was what he liked.  That is probably why I am well versed in classic movies, the good and the bad.  The Betamax tape that I was obsessed with was The Taming of The Shrew, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.  I couldn't have been more than 7 when I saw it for the first time and I was quite certain that it was one of the greatest movies ever made, and that Elizabeth Taylor was the most beautiful women on earth.

The Taming of The Shrew - 1967

Elizabeth Taylor died today.  Some people may only be familiar with her because of the sensational details of her private life, but she was a great actress, and to me, she will always be the most beautiful woman that has ever lived.

  1. Being just a "bit" older than you are, I have grown up seeing the movie marquees with her name on them. Since Cleopatra came out when I was in 7th grade, I didn't see many of them.

Since I have collected several of them, from when she was younger. I have yet to get a copy of the Shrew, but would love to since it is by far my favorite!

  2. P>S. I had a friend with blue eyes who got pink contacts so that her eyes would be violet like Elizabeth Taylor, and she wasn't the only one at school who did it . . pretty funny, huh?
